Measure B Funded Projects
Measure B provides a one-half-cent sales tax to improve transportation in Alameda County.
In November 2000, Alameda County citizens voted to continue Measure B through March 2022. Measure B also established the Alameda County Transportation Improvement Authority (ACTIA) to administer this sales tax. ACTIA started collecting the sales tax in April 2003. In 2010, ACTIA merged with the Alameda County CMA to become the Alameda County Transportation Commission.
The Alameda CTC provides Measure B funding to the Alameda County Public Works Agency to maintain local streets and roads and implement bike and pedestrian improvements within the unincorporated areas of Alameda County. All Measure B funds come with specific program and financial requirements.

Lewelling/ E. Lewelling Boulevard Widening and Streetscape Improvements between I-880 Freeway and Meekland Avenue, Unincorporated Alameda County
Project Update (March 14, 2012)
Current Status:
Work planned for the coming weeks (beginning March 19, 2012) includes:- The Contractor will begin to plant trees and landscape the median areas on East Lewelling Blvd between UPRR and Meekland Avenue.
- The Contractor will continue to install concrete curb and gutter on the south side of Lewelling Boulevard between Hesperian Blvd and UPRR.
- The Contractor will continue to work on driveway and walkway conforms along the frontages on Lewelling and East Lewelling Blvd.
- EMBUD will complete installation of its water laterals on Lewelling Blvd. between UPRR and Hesperian Boulevard.
This schedule is tentative and the progress will mostly depend on the weather and site conditions. As soon as information becomes available, it will be updated on this website.

The Alameda County Board of Supervisors approved a resolution that allows the Alameda County Public Works Agency to participate in a Measure B cost sharing program for sidewalk repairs for single-family residential properties in Measure B Planning Area 2.
Currently, the Sidewalk Repair Program is funded by $100,000 of Measure B (administered by Alameda County Transportation Improvement Authority) Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Funds set aside annually and divided equally among the following unincorporated areas of Alameda County: Ashland, Castro Valley, Cherryland, Fairview, and San Lorenzo. These Measure B program funds are offered on a “first come, first served” basis while funds are available.
The County will reimburse 50% of the sidewalk repair cost per property, or a maximum of $750, whichever is less. Prior to the approval of this resolution, residents were responsible for 100% of the costs of sidewalk repairs.
Residents of the affected unincorporated areas should contact the Public Works Agency at 510-670-5500 to request a sidewalk inspection.
