Black Expo 2008

Alameda County joined other large organizations including PG&E, the Port of Oakland, Safeway, Kaiser Permanente and BART as a sponsor for the annual 2008 Black Expo held July 19-20 at the Oakland Convention Center. GSA's Office of Acquisition Policy led by Linda Moore, Business Outreach Officer, coordinated the participation of 14 County agencies enabling Expo attendees to review a wide range of County services, business opportunities, and information at one centralized booth location. The agencies participating included: Assessor's Office, Auditor-Controller, Behavioral Health, Child Support Services, Community Development Agency, Fire Department, General Services Agency, Human Resource Services, Probation, Public Health, Public Works Agency, Registrar of Voters, Sheriff's Office and Social Services Agency.

A two day pre-Expo event commenced on July 16, which included the 13th Annual African American Excellence in Business Awards and Scholarship Gala and the Procurement Fair the following day July 17. The Alameda County Human Resource Services and General Services Agency were participants in the Job Showcase and Procurement Fair. Many County volunteers helped staff these events.
